SmartSim: The Partnership Between CompanyGame and UOC to Reinvent Education

In an effort to revolutionize higher education and continuous professional training, SmartSim, the educational platform jointly developed by CompanyGame and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), positions itself as an innovative solution to modernize traditional learning models and align them with the demands of today’s labor market.

SmartSim is an advanced digital platform that enables universities, vocational schools, institutions, and companies to design, launch, and manage dynamic and interactive learning experiences. Its approach combines micro-credentials, business simulators, and generative artificial intelligence tools with active and personalized learning methodologies.

The initiative originates from a spin-off between UOC and CompanyGame, supported by the Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR), with the aim of bridging the gap between academic knowledge and the competencies required in today’s professional environment. This project seeks to offer continuous training (reskilling and upskilling) through micro-credentials that incorporate business simulators and AI, providing a more practical and applied educational experience.

Thanks to its student-centered design, SmartSim adapts learning pathways to individual progress, enhances key skills, and allows participants to make decisions in realistic scenarios without risk, replicating real-world business environments. The platform also provides advanced analytics to help educators and institutions monitor learners’ competency development in real time.

This educational model is being actively integrated into institutional strategies aimed at boosting employability, fostering practical learning, and strengthening connections between academia and labor market needs.
